Rampart ip2location Demo

The ip2location database has not been created yet which is why you are seeing this web page. This demo will create a database and load CSV data to provide a simple web search interface that will allow you to resolve the geographic location of an IPV4 ip address. You must first download the CSV file named DB11.LITE from here: https://lite.ip2location.com/database-download To download it to a remote machine execute: curl "https://www.ip2location.com/download/?token=your_key&file=DB11LITECSV" >ip2location.zip Once you've downloaded the data, edit the csv_location variable at the top of the script as well as the desired db_location . Then run this script by typing: rampart ip2location.js The database is pretty big and contains nearly 3 million records, so importation and index creation will take a few minutes. Once it's completed point your browser to: http://yourhost:port/apps/ip2location/ According to their site "IP2Location is an open source geolocation database with limited accuracy." ip2location.com does sell higher accuracy datasets, and ones which contain more metadata about the ip address, but their free version is pretty nice for many purposes (like maybe you want to firewall pesky users by country, or to resolve where your web traffic is coming from.
